Wall Colmonoy Ltd has successfully secured funding from the Defense Technology Exploitation Program (DTEP) to support its Project EVaCC, aimed at developing advanced Vacuum Precision Investment Casting (VPIC) technology. The nearly £2 million project will enhance the UK’s defense capabilities by producing next-generation aerospace components, strengthening the supply chain for the Ministry of Defense.

The DTEP grant is part of a collaboration with Rolls-Royce Bristol, leveraging over 100 years of metallurgical expertise. Wall Colmonoy will use the funding to refine complex vacuum castings, including nickel-based superalloys critical to engine programs. The new technology will improve mechanical performance, allowing for thinner aerofoil sections and greater fuel efficiency.

“This investment represents a significant milestone for Wall Colmonoy Limited,” states Dr. Chris Weirman, technical director. “It will enable us to meet the Ministry of Defense’s critical needs while advancing the UK’s defense and aerospace capabilities.”
