According to the latest U.S. Manufacturing Technology Orders (USMTO) Report from AMT – The Association For Manufacturing Technology, new orders of metalworking machinery totaled $515.8 million in March 2025. This marks the highest monthly value reported since March 2023.

The March 2025 figure reflects a 33.8% increase from February 2025 and a 20.5% rise compared to March 2024, showing continued strength in capital investment across the manufacturing sector.

Industry analysts note that while broader economic uncertainty remains a concern for the second half of the year, demand for production machinery has remained resilient. The growth may indicate that manufacturers are prioritizing upgrades and capacity expansions despite rising interest rates and inflation pressures.

The USMTO Report tracks orders of metal cutting and forming equipment in the U.S., offering a snapshot of manufacturing health and investment trends. Strong performance in March suggests that key industrial sectors are maintaining momentum, even amid shifting economic conditions.

AMT’s full report includes regional and industry-specific data, providing further insight into where growth is occurring across the U.S. manufacturing landscape.
