Manufacturing Technology Orders Surge in November, Setting Up Strong Year-End
Orders for U.S. manufacturing technology totaled $448.8 million in November 2024, up 16.8% from October and 12.4% from November 2023, according to the latest U.S. Manufacturing Technology Orders (USMTO) report published by AMT – The Association for Manufacturing Technology.
Despite a slow start to the year, orders surged following September’s International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS). November orders were nearly 30% above the monthly average and the highest for any November since 2021.
Contract machine shops recorded their largest order volume since March 2023, signaling increased demand across the manufacturing sector. Aerospace orders dipped slightly from October but remained above the 2024 average, indicating limited impact from the Boeing machinists’ strike.
With capital investment shifting toward quality and efficiency improvements, December orders could provide a strong finish to an irregular year.
