Kistler Releases 4709A Strain Gauge Amplifier with IO-Link
Kistler has introduced a new measuring amplifier for strain gauges, the model 4709A. Designed for industrial environments, the device features both a traditional analog output and a fully integrated IO-Link interface for connectivity with modern control systems. It is suited for applications such as load cells and torque or pressure sensors used in manufacturing quality control, material testing, and robotics.
The 4709A amplifier has a 24-bit ADC resolution and an 8 kSps sampling rate. Its dual-output capability provides the analog output for compatibility with conventional monitoring systems, while the IO-Link interface allows for direct integration into industrial networks for real-time data transmission and automation.
The device is equipped with several signal processing features, including selectable low-pass filters to reduce high-frequency noise, a peak value memory to record high measured values like force spikes, and a sample-and-hold function. Through the IO-Link connection, the amplifier can be fully parameterized remotely, allowing users to configure settings such as process input units (e.g., N, kg) and alarm thresholds. It also includes two digital switching points to control external systems.
For durability in harsh environments, the 4709A is housed in an IP65-rated aluminum casing with an operating temperature range of -40°C to 85°C. The unit includes built-in error detection, self-diagnostics with alerts via IO-Link, and short-circuit and reverse polarity protection to ensure reliable operation.
