Kistler Instrument Corporation and FimmTech Inc have announced a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing injection molding education through the integration of measurement technology and hands-on training.

The collaboration brings Kistler’s cavity pressure sensors and process monitoring systems directly into FimmTech’s injection molding seminars. By combining real-time measurement-based process control with practical instruction, the partnership is designed to provide manufacturers with a more comprehensive training experience.

Addressing Industry Challenges

Manufacturers in the plastics sector continue to face pressure to reduce scrap, improve repeatability, manage costs, and address workforce skill gaps, while also meeting increasing demands for traceability and digitalization. The partnership seeks to address these challenges by aligning advanced measurement tools with structured training in scientific molding methodologies.

According to statements from both organizations, the combined approach is intended to help processors better understand and control molding processes by bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.

Integrating Measurement Technology into Training

At the core of the partnership is the incorporation of Kistler’s cavity pressure monitoring systems into FimmTech’s seminars and workshops. Participants work directly with industrial-grade equipment, observing real-time cavity pressure data and learning how to interpret process signals to evaluate part quality.

Training sessions include practical exercises such as switchover optimization, where attendees analyze how small process adjustments influence outcomes. Participants also examine process stability across multiple cycles and learn methods for capturing and structuring production data to support traceability and compliance requirements.

Focus on Data-Driven Process Control

The collaboration emphasizes a shift toward data-driven decision-making in injection molding. By integrating live measurement data into training environments, the program aims to provide participants with a clearer understanding of in-mold conditions and process behavior.

The curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including scientific molding, experimental design, polymer materials, mold and part design, and quality control. The seminars are designed for professionals across the manufacturing process, including engineers, technicians, quality personnel, and production managers.

Expanding Access to Training

FimmTech’s training programs are primarily offered in person in Southern California, with additional sessions held across the United States and internationally. Courses are also available in online and hybrid formats, with recorded content accessible through the organization’s platform.

Prior to the partnership, FimmTech reported participation from professionals representing more than 100 companies across North America, Europe, Asia, and other global markets.

Industry Implications

As manufacturers continue to prioritize efficiency, consistency, and quality, the integration of measurement technology with workforce training may play a growing role in supporting operational improvements. The partnership between Kistler and FimmTech reflects broader industry trends toward digitalization and data-driven manufacturing practices.
