EMUGE-FRANKEN USA to Produce TiNox-Cut VAR End Mills in U.S.

EMUGE-FRANKEN USA, a manufacturer of rotary cutting tools, has announced that its EMUGE TiNox-Cut line of high-performance end mills will now be manufactured in the United States at its facility in West Boylston, Massachusetts.

The U.S.-made line, named TiNox-Cut VAR, is designed for machining difficult materials commonly found in the aerospace industry, such as stainless steel, titanium, Inconel, and other nickel alloys. According to the company, the "VAR" acronym signifies that the end mills are Versatile, American-Made, and offer Reliable Performance.

“We are proud to be making TiNox-Cut VAR end mills in America, ensuring quality, reliability and consistency in every tool, made to stringent EMUGE-FRANKEN German specifications and standards,” said Craig Gosselin, Milling Products Manager at EMUGE-FRANKEN USA.

The TiNox-Cut VAR line includes four types of end mills for semi-roughing and finishing applications:

  • VAR-NF: A high-performance roughing tool for difficult materials like Inconel and titanium, featuring a fine chip breaker to reduce chip size.

  • VAR-N: A five-flute tool designed specifically for machining titanium and its alloys, with a raised land to increase chip clearance.

  • VAR Base: An entry-level universal tool for roughing and finishing stainless and acid-resistant steels.

  • VAR Trochoidal: Designed for high metal removal rates using a trochoidal milling path, which reduces stress when machining difficult materials.

The end mills are constructed from sub-micron grade solid carbide and feature PVD applied coatings for heat and wear resistance. They also have an axial internal coolant channel design for chip evacuation and cooling. The line is available in 4, 5, and 7-flute configurations with diameters ranging from 0.125" to 1", as well as metric sizes from 6 mm to 20 mm.
