Washington, D.C. – The National Association of Manufacturers announced that Nicole Wolter, President and Chief Executive Officer of HM Manufacturing, has been named to the NAM Board of Directors. Nicole will join the NAM Board to advance a manufacturing policy agenda that promotes growth and prosperity for all Americans.
Founded in 1895, the NAM, guided by its Board of Directors, is the largest industrial trade association in the United States with more than 14,000 members and is the nation's most influential advocate for manufacturing. The NAM's membership includes some of the world's most iconic brands and many of the small manufacturers that power the U.S. economy. Ninety percent of the NAM's members are small and medium-sized businesses.
The NAM is at the forefront of every important policy debate for manufacturers. Executives on the NAM Board, which comprises leaders representing companies of all sizes in every industrial sector, are the driving force behind the NAM's advocacy efforts.
"I am honored to be a part of the NAM Board and continue to fight for policies that will ensure our continued growth and success as manufacturers," said Wolter.
"Washington, D.C., needs to understand how their policies affect the more than 12 million men and women employed in manufacturing. I look forward to sharing my story and the stories of all manufacturers who are keeping our promise to deliver for our people and our communities following historic tax reform and significant regulatory relief."
Board members will play a pivotal role in the NAM's recently unveiled "Creators Wanted" campaign, a member-driven initiative that has raised more than $14 million to inspire and drive more Americans to pursue careers in modern manufacturing. The campaign will support programs and activities in 2020 and beyond to engage and interact with kids and parents in communities nationwide and support important workforce programs. By 2025, the impact of "Creators Wanted" aims to reduce the skills gap in the United States by 600,000, expand the number of students enrolling in technical and vocational schools or reskilling programs by 25% and increase the positive perception of the industry among parents to 50% from 27% today.
"Nicole commands respect as a recognized leader in our industry, and the NAM will be stronger thanks to her service on our Board of Directors," said NAM President and CEO Jay Timmons. "Manufacturers are committed to being the solution—from addressing the workforce crisis to resolving trade uncertainties, from offering a comprehensive plan to fix our broken immigration system to promoting sustainability. And across America, manufacturers are keeping our promise to deliver for our people and communities following tax reform and regulatory relief from Washington. The NAM's mission is to ensure we keep moving forward, and Nicole will bring invaluable insights as we work to drive even more manufacturing growth in America and advocate for the more than 12 million men and women who make things in America."
