Tormach CNC Project Amnesty
Give a gift to Technical Education while cleaning out your shop – and Tormach will pay you to do it!
Let’s face it: projects don’t always go as planned. Maybe the CNC conversion project you started has stalled out indefinitely. Or components you bought just didn’t fit right and now you’ve got a box of stepper motors, ballscrews, etc. collecting dust in the corner of your shop with little chance at ever being used. Or maybe you've started to appreciate the differences between a converted machine and a machine designed from the ground up to be a CNC mill. Why not give these parts a new home in technical education through Tormach’s CNC Project Amnesty Program? Robotics, manufacturing, and pre-engineering programs can really use these items, and we will issue you credit towards the purchase of a PCNC mill.
For a limited time, Tormach will pay you for the CNC components you have collected for your conversion project. All components turned in will be donated to non-profit educational organizations. If your high school shop, robotics program, or educational institute is interested in receiving free motion control components, please contact info@tormach.com. Program Terms: Components submitted for credit need to be appropriate to CNC motion control, in good condition, and fully documented. Components can be new or used, but they must be on the list of acceptable items (see below). Documentation is essential. We ask all participants to act in good faith, understanding that their component packages will be donated to an educational program and need to be useful to the educational program. In plain terms, this means that we will not accept a box of junk. The components should be itemized with detailed descriptions. Documentation such as datasheets, wiring instructions, interface diagrams, or operator manuals must be included.
Realize that what you will be sending is essentially a gift box of technology to young people who are excited to learn about mechatronics, engineering, and automation. Prepare your box with this in mind and we'll be happy to issue as much trade-in credit as we can rationalize. Credit is issued when your package of donated items is accepted. Review of the contents, not receipt of delivery, is required for acceptance. Generally you will be notified of your credit allowance within one week of receipt of your package at Tormach. Maximum credit is $500. Credit must be applied within 6 months of being issued. Credit can only apply against the purchase of a new Tormach PCNC mill. Credit is non-transferrable. Components previously delivered to non-profit organizations through this program may not be resubmitted and are ineligible for credit. Any components submitted but refused for credit will be returned only if the originator pays all shipping and handling fees.
This program can be canceled at any time without prior notification. Tormach is solely responsible for the determination of credit value assigned to any item(s) submitted to this program. Acceptable Items Axis Motors: Small Axis Motors such as DC servo, AC servo, or stepper motors. NEMA 23 or similar. Maximum Credit $30 each. Medium Axis Motors such as DC Servo, AC servo, or stepper motors. NEMA 34 to NEMA 42. Maximum Credit $50. Motors smaller than NEMA frame 23 or larger than NEMA 42 are not accepted Axis Drivers: Small Axis Drives with current limit above 2.5 A but less than 5A. Maximum Credit $25 each. Medium Axis Drives with current limit from 5A to 10A. Maximum Credit: $60 each. Axis drives below 2.5A are not accepted. Axis drives with power input requirements of 3 phase current or 460VAC input are not accepted.
Power Supplies: AC input / DC output power supplies with 48VAC to 230 VAC input and power levels of 200W to 3000W are acceptable. Maximum Credit: $50 each. Smaller or larger power supplies are not accepted. Ballscrews: Maximum Credit: $60 each Passive interface cards: also known as breakout boards, such as those from Sound Logic, Campbell Designs, PMXD. Maximum credit: $50 Intelligent controllers such as those from Warp9, Flashcut, or Galil. Maximum credit $75
Encoders: Optical encoders with quadrature A/B or A/B/index outputs.
Maximum credit $20. No credit given for absolute encoders, resolvers, or other feedback devices.
Additional Terms No credit provided for components without documentation. Credit provided will not exceed retail value While no credit is provided for transformers, circuit breakers, switches, fuses, limit switches, proximity sensors, push buttons, or other components often associated with a conversion project, the end users will appreciate such items. As noted above, these packages will be donated as technology gift boxes to non-profit educational organizations. Use common sense and include anything that adds value to your technology gift box.
