Hydrapower Installs Optimum Precision Shear at Thyssen Krupp Stainless USA.

Hydrapower International Inc., Marco Island,  FL has developed an optimum Shear to enable TK to cut SS from 0.3mm (0.015”) to 12mm (1/2”) Stainless steel. In the past 2 shears were required to reliably cut this range of material.

The new TK facility in Calvert, AL produces coils of Stainless and each coil rolling has to be tested for mechanical and chemical properties. There are small samples called “Coupons” which are cut from the metal and tested then stored.
                 

Hydrapower developed the shear to meet the TK requirements and provided CNC control for optimum settings of blade gap, rake angle and back gauge. The normally applied settings of the past are now revised to reduce distortion and precisely shear without burrs on the entire range of thicknesses.
