Sioux Tools Introduces Geared Orbital Sander

Sioux Tools enters 2009 with another addition to its Signature Series of powered hand tools. The Geared Orbital Sander is billed as the most comfortable sander ever made for wood, metal, marine and solid surface applications.

“The Geared Orbital Sander is all about working for extended periods of time without fatigue,” said Sioux Tools’ Randy Thomas, Product Manager. “The performance is there, and we upgraded the design to improve ergonomics for today’s worker. The Sioux grip and handle really are pioneering developments,” he added.

Building upon the success of the Random Orbital Sander and the Jitterbug, Sioux engineers focused on productivity and comfort. The new Geared Orbital Sander incorporates a 24-position grip, backed by a single-piece TPR (thermal plastic rubber) handle, with a built-in lever.

Sioux’s new sander includes a patented soft-textured grip. The asymmetrical grip adjusts in 15-degree increments across a full 360 degrees, creating the perfect fit for virtually any hand. It rotates and locks into 24 positions for any hand shape, left or right.

Sioux engineers took a unique handle approach and developed a chemically resistant, one-piece, thermal plastic rubber overmolding. Vibration is reduced and less effort is required for operation. To engage or stop the motor, gently squeeze and release the handle. Molded finger indentations allow extended use, better grip and improved control.

The 5-vane motor includes balanced ball-bearing construction with a precision steel ring and drive gear. Bearings are shielded and virtually maintenance free, with only the occasional air line lubrication needed. 15 CFM operates the sander, and the rear-directional exhaust has a built-in muffler.

Vertical or horizontal applications include heavy-duty leveling, sanding, blending or feathering for natural and made-made materials. A built-in thumb wheel adjusts speeds up to 900 rpm.
The Sioux Geared Orbital Sander is available in 8 models. Options include 6” or 8” pad size, hook-and-loop or PSA pad, and central vacuum.
